Dr. Tarig A. Ali received his B.Sc. degree (honors) in Civil Engineering
in 1993 and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Ohio State University
- Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Geodetic
Science in 1999 and 2003, respectively. He has been an assistant
professor with the Department of Technology and Geomatics at East
Tennessee State University (ETSU) since August of 2003 until he
joined UCF in August of 2006.
Dr.
Ali is recipient of the 2006 ESRI Award for Best Scientific Paper
in GIS-3rd Place, the 2005 Faculty Excellence Award by East Tennessee
State University, the 2004 Murrough O’Brien Educational Award
by the American Shore & Beach Preservation Association, and
the 2003 Duane C. Brown Jr. Award by the Ohio State University.
His
recent research includes Study of the Spatio-temporal Variation
of the Level of the Atmospheric Water Vapor using ground-based
GPS, Spatial Modeling and Analysis of the Gray Fossils, Wide-Area
GPS Networks, and GIS Uncertainty Modeling. Dr Ali is a member
of the Cartography and Geographic Information Society, the American
Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, the International
Water Resources Association, Florida Surveying and Mapping Society,
and the American Shore & Beach Preservation Association. He
is also a member of the Review Board of the International Journal
of Modern Engineering, and reviewer for the ASCE Surveying Engineering
and Engineering Technology Journals.
