Re- Admission Guidelines

CECS Re-Admission Policies and Guidlines

Readmission to UCF is becoming more and more of a privilege.  Due to UCF’s large number of students and the caliber of incoming students being admitted, UCF no longer needs readmission cases to bolsters it’s student body.  It is because of this that each readmission case should be considered carefully.

CECS readmission policies (in addition to University standards)

All readmission cases in the College of Engineering and Computer Science will be required to provide the following information before they will be completed:

  • Departmental support in the form of a letter detailing any restriction and courses that the student is advised to take for the first two semesters following readmission
  • Readmission form with students information and course load signed by student and advisor
  • All paperwork required by the UCF Registrar’s office

Additional requirements may be required as noted below for the following levels of suspension.

Disqualification

Students disqualified from CECS that are encouraged to continue meeting their degree requirements at another institution during the period that they are suspended form UCF.  This will give students an opportunity to continue working toward their degree requirements and show positive academic progress.  The following guidelines should be used when considering a student for readmission:

  • Students that have made excellent progress toward their degree requirements may be considered for the possibility of early readmission (by one semester)
  • Students that have not made significant progress toward their degree requirements should be required to sit out the normal two semesters and should be encouraged to receive an AA degree from a Florida Community College if appropriate to the students case

CECS will normally only accept early readmits from disqualified students that have sat out for at least one semester.  Exceptions to this will be considered for students that meet the following criteria and are approved by their department and Dr. Nayfeh:

  • Students are very close to graduation and are no more than 10 quality points down
  • International students on a case by case basis
  • Students that have strong departmental support and special circumstances

Exclusion

Exclusion cases require that a student sit out for a minimum of one year (3 semesters) before being eligible to file for readmission.  Excluded students should not be encouraged to continue taking coursework at another institution unless they have solved the problems that caused them to be excluded.  In many cases students will continue taking courses even if they are still having the same problems that caused them to fall in to poor academic standing.  For students that been excluded a period of time away from academics may be warranted.
