Delivery
Technical Requirements
Availability
of E-mail and the World Wide Web protocols are the technical
base of the Distance Learning courses. One technical requirement
is that a student must have access to:
- High
Speed Bandwidth (i.e. T1 lines, Roadrunner or DSL) to use
video streaming.
Other technical factors:
- Internet
Access
- E-mail
Client Program
- Web
Browser Client Program, need
Internet Explorer 4.0 or Netscape 3.0 or higher
Computer accounts are
provided to all UCF students for access to e-mail, public
computer labs, and the campus backbone network.
Classes
are streamed in front of a live audience and the handouts
are available online and distributed to designated remote
sites, usually within 72 hours. An on-site coordinator handles
handouts and proctors examinations.
Course Requirements
The
syllabus of each course offered at a distance is available
on the Internet
(look under Current Courses). Each course syllabus includes
prerequisites, topics, assignments, and due dates. If you
have specific questions about these matters, please address
them directly to the individual professors
via electronic mail.
Access to Professors
All
professors are available via electronic mail. Electronic mail
is recommended as the most expedient way to reach
faculty.
