Course Delivery

Technical Requirements

Availability of E-mail and the World Wide Web protocols are the technical base of the Distance Learning courses. One technical requirement is that a student must have access to:

  • High Speed Bandwidth (i.e. T1 lines, Roadrunner or DSL) to use video streaming.

Other technical factors:

  • Internet Access
  • E-mail Client Program
  • Web Browser Client Program, need Internet Explorer 4.0 or Netscape 3.0 or higher

Computer accounts are provided to all UCF students for access to e-mail, public computer labs, and the campus backbone network.

Classes are streamed in front of a live audience and the handouts are available online and distributed to designated remote sites, usually within 72 hours. An on-site coordinator handles handouts and proctors examinations.

Course Requirements

The syllabus of each course offered at a distance is available on the Internet (look under Current Courses). Each course syllabus includes prerequisites, topics, assignments, and due dates. If you have specific questions about these matters, please address them directly to the individual professors via electronic mail.

Access to Professors

All professors are available via electronic mail. Electronic mail is recommended as the most expedient way to reach faculty.
